Who doesn’t like chocolate and peanut butter together? To make this dairy free Chocolate Peanut Butter Smoothie combine them with a few other ingredients in your Vita-Mix or blender with frozen bananas. I buy ripe organic bananas, peel them, lay them out on a cookie sheet and freeze them. Once frozen, I bag them up and toss them in the freezer for a smoothie kind of day.
Blend them together with your favorite non-dairy milk, chocolate protein powder, natural peanut butter, some flax seed meal, cocoa powder and a date or two. Add a little ice to make it frothy and milk-shake like. Yum! It’s so easy and everyone will love it!
Daughter #2 told me about this vegan protein powder that’s gluten and soy free. We each bought a different flavor (chocolate and vanilla). Then we swapped sharing some of our flavor with the other so we each had some of each. That’s the way to do it! This protein powder makes up into a delicious smoothie and works well on our busy weekday mornings. It’s available online at www.amazon.com, but there’s quite a variety at your local natural foods market. They even sell sample size packets so you can try several kinds to see what you like.
Seriously, this dairy free Chocolate Peanut Butter Smoothie is something everyone in your family will love and you will love how quick and easy it is. Healthy, convenient, quick and easy. How often does that happen?
Experiment with how many dates to put in. I found 1 to be perfect for me but you may like it sweeter. A pinch of cinnamon brings it to a whole new level!
Oh, and I almost forgot the Cacoa Nibs! They are bits of pure dark cacoa that you can purchase at your local natural market. They add a nice crunchy finish, but they are a little bitter so children may not like them. I pick some up at Whole Foods when I’m in the neighborhood.
1/4 cup your favorite chocolate flavored protein powder (I use Thorne)
2 heaping tablespoons natural peanut butter
1 frozen banana
1 tablespoon cocoa powder
1 – 2 pitted dates
2 cups unsweetened coconut milk, the beverage (or almond milk)
pinch of cinnamon, optional
cacao nibs, optional
Place all ingredients except ice in your blender. Start off blending slow and increase power. Add ice. Blend until smooth. Slurp away!
