In the middle of a productive gardening season, we slipped away for a little vacation. Yay! For the past week our family has disconnected from our daily routines to reconnect with each other at our very favorite place on earth.
In 1984 at the recommendation of a friend, we started a tradition of attending Cannon Beach Conference Center to enjoy their summer family conferences. Our kids loved it so much that we found ourselves returning year after year. Now that our kids have families of their own, they want to continue. It’s a 30 year tradition. Who knows how long it will continue, but every summer we get to go, is a gift. Our Nashville, Portland and Spokane crew stopped life as we know it so grandparents, kids, siblings, in laws and cousins could reconnect.
The Conference Center has an awesome kids program and they group all younger ages together for worship. Imagine having this troupe in chorus for worship! Talk about a joyful noise!
There was a lot of play on the beach and the park.
And lots of snuggling and giggling….
Thankful to have had such a wonderful time with our family in a beautiful place. And thank you to the Conference Center for all that they generously offer in teaching, accommodations and delicious food.
We returned home refreshed and inspired to get back at it. That night before we even opened our front door, we tromped out to the garden to see what grew while we were away. Besides a bunch of very tall weeds, we gathered a few things in a 10 minute scavenge.
And such are the joys of life!
Thanks for reading and enduring an overload of family pics!
